In an age where ‘Heroism’ is back with full throttle with the success of films like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Singham’, ‘Agneepath’ and others, there is also a trend of women-oriented films like ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Kahaani’ and ‘Raaz 3’ winning people’s hearts. And hence it becomes difficult for an opposite sex star to get noticed in a male/female dominated film respectively. Similarly when filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar offered ‘Heroine’ to Arjun Rampal, he was skeptical to sign the female dominated film. Led by Kareena Kapoor who plays the title role, Arjun was doubtful whether the film will have any scope for him to shine. But all his doubts were put to rest when Madhur narrated the script to him.
“When I was approached for the film, I did feel that in a film about a heroine, what a guy would actually do,” revealed Arjun about his pre conceived notions which were later cleared by Madhur. “However the part of this superstar that I am playing in the film came across quite nicely. Moreover Madhur Bhandarkar and I wanted to work together for a long time. Madhur is really capable of handling a subject like this. I didn’t have to think much about just my own character since the film is not about one particular individual,” added Arjun Rampal who plays Kareena’s one of the two love interests in the film.
The film opened to mixed reviews.
